"My father [Brunon Paprocki], on the other hand, met with exceptional professional success right from the beginning. It enabled our family to live in comfort and for Father to expand his practice. My sister Antonina (Tola) arrived in 1909, and before I was born in 1911 my parents decided to construct a family home at Utrata (later called Piastow) about 20 km from Warsaw. It was an expensive mansion, with a study and observation room rising above the main floors. There were plenty of large windows and several large balconies, all well positioned in the middle of acres of land.

"Thinking ahead, as there were two children and a third (myself) on the way, Father had three villas built in close proximity to the main house, plus a four-storey rental property across the yard. There was also an orchard and a vegetable garden at the back, and a pond near the end of the property. My younger brother Kazimierz (Kazik) was born there in 1914, and my sister Susan (Zusia) completed the family in 1917.

"In those years we all maintained close relations with my Aunt Ewa [Augustynowicz] and Aunt Maria [Telszewski] and their husbands. Almost every Sunday in summer we would walk to church and then visit with them near Pruszkow where they had nice homes that faced each other across a beautiful garden which they owned and maintained in common. Father's remaining elder brother, Felix, also lived in Pruszkow where he owned an apartment building. Uncle Felix painted beautiful pictures, and also was an expert on the violin."

Ciekawe, że wtedy Piastów zwał się jeszcze Żdżary, tego nie wiedziałem.
